LAND-CASCADES Specialized Course 2026: Landslide Dams and Cascading Hazards
The LAND-CASCADES International Research Network, supported by INQUA, is pleased to announce the Specialized Course 2026: Landslide Dams and Cascading Hazards, to be held 1–4 December 2026 in Mendoza, Argentina.
he course will provide advanced scientific and technical training on slope dynamics, landslide-dammed lakes, and cascading hazards in the Andes, bringing together leading experts and early-career researchers working on natural hazards and disaster risk management.
Course highlights
Participants will benefit from:
- Keynote lectures delivered by international experts;
- A specialized seminar on natural dams, slope stability and hydrology;
- A practical workshop on hazard modelling and dam-breach scenarios;
- A field excursion in the Mendoza region.
Who should apply?
The course is designed for:
- PhD students;
- Early-career researchers;
- Professionals working in geosciences, civil engineering, hydrology, remote sensing, GIS, and disaster risk management.
Travel grants
Travel grants are available for PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and early-career researchers.
Thematic areas
The course will address topics including:
- Natural hazards;
- Debris flows;
- Outburst floods;
