PaleoHome ECR lecture series

The PaleoHome ECR team – Palaeolithic Hominins and Habitats: Out of Africa to India – an INQUA-HABCOM project, organizes an online lecture series for ECRs.

Evidence of enduring preference among hominins for particular geographic places or habitats over long periods is a global phenomenon in the Palaeolithic. This project brings together experts working in India, Africa, Arabia, and SW and E Asia to address major issues related to multiple questions on the ‘Out of Africa’ story as related to chronology, palaeoenvironments and behavioural variability over the Lower Palaeolithic (Early to Middle Pleistocene), exploring similarities as also differences in evolutionary trajectories.

The project brings together experts from India, Africa, Arabia, and Asia to address these issues, fostering a diverse and inclusive global network. Plans include hybrid meetings, skill development for early-career researchers (ECRs), interdisciplinary collaboration on themes such as geochronology, technology, and modeling, and the creation of a database of key sites. Public outreach efforts aim to raise awareness of prehistory among children, educators, and the public. Ultimately, the project seeks to publish research incorporating varied perspectives on Lower Palaeolithic developments in India and Africa.
