Podcast INQUA India 2027
Quaternary is the age when modern recognisable humans started inhabiting this planet.
All over the world scientists are engaged in studying various aspects of human evolution. Once every 4 years scientists from all across the Globe gather at one place and exchange their research, discoveries and views. In 2027 Lucknow (India) has the honour of hosting this congress.
Through this podcast, accompany Veraa on an amazing journey about human evolution, the changing climate, and the reorganisation of environments.

Season 5 – Episode 6 – In Conversation with Prof. Francesco Latino Chiocci
Prof. Francesco Latino Chiocci is a distinguished marine geologist and professor known for his pioneering research in marine geology, sedimentology, and seafloor mapping. Affiliated with Sapienza University of Rome, he has made significant contributions to understanding underwater geological processes, particularly submarine landslides, continental margins, and coastal evolution. He was the President/Chairperson, and led the organization of the 21st International Union for Quaternary Research (INQUA) Congress in Rome ( 2023). He shared with us his experience of the INQUA Roma congress and his insights towards INQUA 2027 in Lucknow, India.
His work focuses on high-resolution seafloor mapping and the study of marine sediment dynamics, helping scientists better understand geological hazards such as underwater slope instability and their environmental impacts. Through extensive field research and international collaborations, he has played a key role in advancing knowledge of Mediterranean marine environments and seabed morphology.
Professor Chiocci has led and participated in numerous oceanographic expeditions and research projects, publishing widely in leading scientific journals. His expertise in marine geohazards, coastal processes, and marine environmental management has positioned him as an important voice in the field of marine geosciences, contributing both to academic research and practical applications in environmental protection and coastal planning.
