INQUA TERPRO  IFG 1618F EGSHaz (Earthquake Geology and Seismic Hazards)

Summer School on Active Tectonics and Tectonic Geomorphology. Prague (Czech Republic), 24-27th September 2019

The summer school mainly aims at ECRs, DCRs, and MSc./PhD students. The participants will be taught the state-of-the-art methods and concepts and learn about the latest studies and developments in Quaternary tectonics research. This includes the impact of active tectonics on communities and infrastructure, and attempts to mitigate the risk of earthquakes and their secondary effects (landslides, tsunamis, liquefaction, etc.). After the summer school, the participants will be able to design scientific studies on their own and to apply a variety of modern concepts and tools to Quaternary tectonics problems. The venue will be held in Prague and will be coordinated by the Institute of Rock Structure and Mechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

We will run field trips in addition to the lectures which will enable the participants to apply their new knowledge and which will be used to teach field-based methods.
